How To Upgrade OpenOffice from 2.4 To 3.1 Solaris
1. login to system as root user and execute
pkginfo | grep openoffice

2. Remove all old 2.4 packages.
pkgrm openofficeorg-base openofficeorg-calc openofficeorg-core01 openofficeorg-core02 openofficeorg-core03 openofficeorg-core04 openofficeorg-core05 openofficeorg-core06 openofficeorg-core07 openofficeorg-core08 openofficeorg-core09 openofficeorg-core10 openofficeorg-draw openofficeorg-impress openofficeorg-math openofficeorg-writer
3. Once all above packages uninstalled make sure “pkginfo | grep openoffice” does not return any outputs.
4. Copy the new openoffice to any storage folder on system and extract it.
5. Run below command to add all the packages avaialble in packages directory.
pkgadd -d /opt/OOO310_m19_native_packed-1_en-US.9420/packages Make sure below packages are installed in the system. pkginfo | grep SUNWj6cfg system SUNWj6cfg JDK 6.0 Host Config. 6. cd to /opt/openoffice.org3/program and start ./soffice.bin to invoke the welcome screen which needs to be invoked once after fresh installation.
7. To run as a service use below command
/opt/openoffice.org3/program/soffice -invisible -"accept=socket,host=0,port=8100;urp" & use netstat -an | grep 8100 to check the port is open or not. bash-3.00# netstat -an | grep 8100 *.8100 *.* 0 0 49152 0 LISTEN
